The Dispositional Resilience (Hardiness) Scale (HARDY)

 The
dispositional resilience (hardiness) scale(HARDY) is a self-report scale that is designed to measure three major components of hardiness (control, communication, and challenge). The HARDY consists of 45 items that are rated on a four-point likert scale from 0 (not at all true) to 3 (completely true).

Item Coding

The  HARDY consists of 45 items that are rated on a four-point likert scale as follows:
0 1 2 3
not at all true a little true     quite true       completely true

Scales

The HARDY yields three subscales (communication, challenge, and control).  Descriptions of the subscales and item loadings are listed below.  Scale scores are calculated as the sum of respective items.  Underlined/bold items are reverse scored.
